On May 11, 2013, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced the construction of a new hotel in Quito, Ecuador, the first of its kind in the country. The new building will be the company's third hotel in Ecuador, alongside the Sheraton Quoto and the Sheraton Guayaquil. This facility will bring three IhG branded hotels to Ecuador, including the first Ecuadorian hotel of the brand, which is scheduled to open in June 2013. It already has two other hotels: the Intercontinental Residence Hotel in El Paso, Texas, which opens next month, and its second largest hotel, the Express Hotel Ecuador in Guyana, just outside the capital.
